Maria’s Cellular Expressions exhibition of 160 drawings opened on February 7th. A very interested crowd of people attended the reception including local artist and legend Tom Forestall and his son and artist Frank Forestall. Snapd Dartmouth photographer Amelia Cruddas whose photographs will be published in the next Snapd Issue attended as well.

Cellular Expressions Exhibition at the Craig Gallery

With the help of my volunteers Kristina, Hannah, Angele, Christine and my husband Scott we managed to install this exhibition of 160 drawings in only a day and a half at the Craig Gallery in Dartmouth, NS.


Thank you to the Craig Gallery staff, Lee Cripps and the Exhibition selection committee for giving me this opportunity. It’s been a long time in the works and I am so happy that the show turned out far beyond my own expectations. Thank you to all my helpers and supporters. The exhibition will be up until March 3rd, 2019.  


 

Cellular Expressions – Solo Exhibition at The Craig Gallery

Please join Maria at the Craig Gallery in Dartmouth, NS, Canada for her solo exhibition “Cellular Expressions” which opens on Thursday, February 7th, 5pm – 7pm. Followed by an artist talk on Saturday, February 9th, 2pm. In case of snow the artist talk will be moved to February 16th at 2pm. The exhibition will be up until March 3rd. Around 150 drawings will be exhibited.

Maria’s artist book at Book Matters

Maria Doering is part of Book Matters 2018

Maria was invited to include one of her artist books in Book Matters at the Inverness County Centre for the Arts. The work will be on display September 25th – October 14th with a likely opening receptions September 25th. Many of the books on display will be read at a performance on September 30th. Cells, Souls & Personalities at St. FX University Gallery in Antigonish, NS

Maria Doering's CSP exhibition at St. FX University Gallery
Maria’s Cells, Souls and Personalities body of work will be on exhibition at St. FX University Gallery from September 5th until October 7th. The opening reception is September 5th at 6pm immediately followed by the artist talk at 7pm.

This exhibition includes 50+ hand carved limited edition linocut prints on Japanese paper as well as several prints on fabric, embellished with embroidery. Maria’s Cells, Souls and Personalities Exhibition plays with the question: What if we could view our personality traits and emotions under the microscope in cellular form?

The exhibition can be viewed Tuesday – Friday noon until 6pm at the Gallery.

Maria and her collaborator Fiona Chinkan are bringing their newest iteration of the Shared Energies Project to Inverness, NS. The artists can be visited in the studio at the Inverness County Centre for the Arts between July 8th and August 2nd. The exhibition Shared Energies: Momentum will open at the Inverness County Centre for the Arts on August 3rd at 6pm. “The Adventurous Soul” in the 2017 North American Print Biennial

2017 North American Print Biennial

Maria will be in Boston for the opening reception of the 2017 North America Print Biennial this Saturday. Her piece “The Adventurous Soul” is part of the exhibition and received the Hiromi Paper award. National Gallery of Art Curator and Boston Printmakers’ Juror Judith Brodie quoted Maria in her essay “Outmoded”  where she discusses that “the touchscreen culture is leaving many artists hungering for labor-intensive, hands-on experiences.”

Maria’s travel to Boston is generously funded by a travel grant through the Canada Council for the Arts, which last year invested $153 million to bring the arts to Canadians throughout the country.

Maria Doering - Cells, Souls and Personalities at SJACThe City of Saint John Gallery at the Saint John Arts Centre presents
Maria Doering – “Cells, Souls and Personalities” and “Internal Dialogues”.
The two exhibitions open today, Friday September 8th at 5:30pm – 7:30pm and will run until October 28th, 2017. Maria will be giving an artist talk in the Gallery on September 20th at noon.

Maria will be the printmaker-in-residence at the Saint John Arts Centre until the end of September where she will be working on a new body of work.

During her stay she will be offering 3 workshops at the Arts Centre, please visit the SJAC website for more information.
