Fiona Chinkan, Maria’s friend and collaborator came to visit this summer and filmed a studio tour with Maria. This tour shows a lot of different materials Maria works with as well as some new and older work and gives a glimpse into process and storage solutions. Enjoy watching it here!
Fiona and Maria were interviewed this week about their collaborative Shared Energies project on the Canadian Podcast “In Conversation with Stephen Hurley” through VoicEd radio . If you have half an hour take a listen to the conversation on their take on the role of artists in society today, how they came to collaborate and what they have learned about the collaborative process.
Please join Maria at the Craig Gallery in Dartmouth, NS, Canada for her solo exhibition “Cellular Expressions” which opens on Thursday, February 7th, 5pm – 7pm. Followed by an artist talk on Saturday, February 9th, 2pm. In case of snow the artist talk will be moved to February 16th at 2pm. The exhibition will be up until March 3rd. Around 150 drawings will be exhibited.
Maria’s Cells, Souls and Personalities body of work will be on exhibition at St. FX University Gallery from September 5th until October 7th. The opening reception is September 5th at 6pm immediately followed by the artist talk at 7pm.
This exhibition includes 50+ hand carved limited edition linocut prints on Japanese paper as well as several prints on fabric, embellished with embroidery. Maria’s Cells, Souls and Personalities Exhibition plays with the question: What if we could view our personality traits and emotions under the microscope in cellular form?
The exhibition can be viewed Tuesday – Friday noon until 6pm at the Gallery.

The two exhibitions open today, Friday September 8th at 5:30pm – 7:30pm and will run until October 28th, 2017. Maria will be giving an artist talk in the Gallery on September 20th at noon.
Maria will be the printmaker-in-residence at the Saint John Arts Centre until the end of September where she will be working on a new body of work.

Fiona Chinkan and Maria Doering have spent the month of April in Princeton, NJ at the Arts Council of Princeton. The two artistic collaborators took over the Taplin Gallery space and turned it into a studio space/workshop for the month continuing their work on Shared Energies: Cells, Stars and the Fluidity between. During this time the studio space was open to the public to visit and the artists enjoyed much interaction with the art enthusiasts of Princeton. The culmination of this project is now on view at the Taplin Gallery until June 10th.

Maria will be giving an artist lecture about her work, her process and the project that she printed during her residency at the Ottawa School of Art, on Thursday September 8th, 2016 at noon in the library room at the school. OSA is located at 35 George St, Ottawa, ON K1N 1K2. The event is free and open to the public, and will take approximately one hour.
